Summary

    About This Product

BY DEBORAH ROSS SWAIN, EDD, AND NANCY LONG, PHD

This new battery identifies children who have, or are at risk for, Auditory Processing Disorder. It pinpoints specific strengths and weaknesses and documents improvement in auditory processing skills as a result of therapeutic intervention.

The APAT is comprised of 10 subtests:

    • Phonemic Awareness
    • Word Sequences
    • Semantic Relationships
    • Sentence Memory
    • Cued Recall
    • Content Memory
    • Complex Sentences
    • Sentence Absurdities
    • Following Directions
    • Passage Comprehension

The battery generates scores for each subtest, plus three composites: Linguistic Processing Index, Auditory Memory Index, and a Global Index that reflects overall auditory processing efficiency. Linguistic Processing and Auditory Processing tasks can be further analyzed to obtain measures of discrimination, sequencing, and cohesion, immediate recall, delayed recall, sequential recall, and cued recall.

This highly useful battery gives you a complete and detailed picture of auditory processing skills, making it easier to design appropriate, targeted intervention.
